Description

Directions for Use

The Funnel Trap is recommended for this species. Trapping can be carried out during most of the year in many African and Middle Eastern countries. In more temperate countries of the northern hemisphere monitoring is carried out between May and November. In the southern hemisphere trapping is between November and June. Traps should normally be attached to stakes at 1m height and placed within the crop at least 30 metres apart. One trap per hectare should be sufficient for uniform fields though a minimum of two traps should be used regardless of the field size. Lures should be changed every 6‐8 weeks or earlier. The Funnel Traps should be emptied weekly to avoid the trap filling and repelling flying insects from putrefaction of the insects caught. Catches should be recorded weekly in low populations but more frequently in fields with high populations. To avoid affecting the efficiency of the trapping system it is strongly recommended that traps be used for only the one species. Never use the lures for other species in this trap.
